Self-review: the CHANGELOG entries said the list opens upward when the room below is short; it does only when it also fits above (in a short window it stays below). The Portails paragraph of architecture.md now quotes the two errors a test meets without the mock, both reproduced on a throwaway test: "Target container is not a DOM element" without a DOM, "Portals are not currently supported by the server renderer" with a DOM-like container.
