Follow-ups of the review of PR #418.
- check-latest-json.jq wants exactly one document and release.yml calls it
with -s: under jq 1.6, the release container's, an empty file passed the
check (no output, status 0) and two documents were judged on the last one,
so the job would have deleted the published manifest and uploaded the bad
one. Two tests cover both cases.
- build-latest-json.test.mjs runs the text of release.yml's "Publish
latest.json to package registry" step against a fake curl: DELETE then PUT
on a valid manifest, exit 1 and no request on a refused one.
- check-frontend no longer ignores .claude/** and release.yml (decision of
Max): the test reads verify-release.sh and runs the Publish step, so "on
every pull request" holds. REVIEW.md, CLAUDE.md and architecture.md follow.
- release.yml: stale ".deb fallback" comment fixed.
- qa-update-cycle.md: a tauri dev build on Linux shows TargetsNotFound,
expected since #418.

Clears RUSTSEC-2026-0367, RUSTSEC-2026-0368 and RUSTSEC-2026-0369 on
zip 4.6.1, which turned the daily audit.yml red at run 558 (2026-10-17)
without any lockfile change. zip was compiled only for Windows, through
the default `zip` feature of tauri-plugin-updater 2.10.0. It is fixed
only in zip >= 9.0.0, and tauri-plugin-updater 2.14.0 still requires
zip ^4, so no cargo update can reach a fix.
That feature only unpacks archived update packages (.nsis.zip,
.msi.zip, .AppImage.tar.gz, produced by createUpdaterArtifacts
"v1Compatible"); this app ships createUpdaterArtifacts: true, whose
packages are never archives. The updater is now declared without its
default features, keeping rustls-tls. The lockfile loses zip, arbitrary
and derive_arbitrary (666 -> 663 packages, nothing added), and tar
leaves the Linux graph.
tar was the canary of the suppression guard in check-rust.yml. It is
replaced by webkit2gtk, Tauri's Linux webview, which keeps the property
that made tar useful: a dependency present on x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu
only, so finding it also proves that --target resolves conditional
edges. ADR 0018, architecture.md, qa-update-cycle.md and the release
skill are updated to match.
Verified locally: cargo-audit 0.22.2 exits 1 on the old lock with the
three IDs and 0 on the new one (663 crates, the same 12 allowed
warnings); the suppression guard is green, and red with the canary
swapped for tar or zip; windows-sys guard 9/9; cargo check and cargo
test (267 passed) on Linux; cargo xwin check for x86_64-pc-windows-msvc
is green on main (zip compiled) and on this branch (zip gone).

Review follow-ups of PR #414.
- audit.yml points to the concurrency comment of check-rust.yml, whose
measurement covers push and pull_request runs only: say this workflow
runs on schedule and workflow_dispatch, which it does not cover.
- reportService.test.ts said CI runs Node 20, so no node:sqlite; CI runs
Node 24 since #376, and the harness itself is #392's.
- The release skill said /actions/tasks ignores `limit`. Measured
2026-10-12: only without `page` (613 rows); with `page` it pages by 30
or by `limit`.

Review follow-ups of PR #415. The container does have python3 (pulled by
the apt packages of the install step, run 517): awk is kept because mawk
is part of the ubuntu:22.04 base image, which the workflow comment and
the ADR now say. #344 is a PR and the second drift, not the third. The
awk exit-code test is described by what it alone catches (an awk that
fails after printing every fact). The repair procedure gains the two
failures it had no answer for, and the ADR names the canary's limit.
The release commit edits Cargo.lock on main without a PR, so /release
now replays the guard's exact step text right after that edit (step 2),
checked on the stack's lock (exit 0) and on a drifted edge (exit 1).

Review follow-ups of PR #416. The check that release.yml runs before
deleting the published manifest moves from an inline jq program to
scripts/check-latest-json.jq, which release.yml applies with
`jq -e --arg version ... -f`. scripts/build-latest-json.test.mjs now runs
that same filter on every pull request: on the script's output, on a
wrong version, on nine broken manifests and on the shape published up to
v0.17.1. It also compares the key lists of the script, of the filter and
of verify-release.sh, so a list left behind shows before the tag.
Two new cases pin the version argument: 0.18.0 must come out as 0.18.0
(the other fixtures pass 0.17.1, the version the bundle names carry, so a
script that ignored its argument passed them all), and an empty version
must fail. Both mutations survived the review's pass.
No change to what the manifest holds: still four keys.

latest.json only had linux-x86_64, built from the .deb. An .rpm install
looks up linux-x86_64-rpm first, then fell back on linux-x86_64,
downloaded the .deb and refused it (InvalidUpdaterFormat).
- scripts/build-latest-json.sh writes linux-x86_64-deb,
linux-x86_64-rpm, linux-x86_64 (the .deb, as a fallback) and
windows-x86_64 from the release assets. It fails unless it finds
exactly one .deb, one .rpm and one -setup.exe, each with a non-empty
.sig. The JSON comes from jq alone, notes read with --rawfile, file
names encoded with @uri like the upload step.
- scripts/build-latest-json.test.mjs (vitest) runs it under
bash -e -o pipefail on a temporary assets dir; check-frontend
installs jq.
- release.yml calls the script, writes the notes output under a random
delimiter, checks the manifest with jq before the registry DELETE,
and names the .rpm instead of an AppImage in the release notes.
- verify-release.sh requires the four keys, the extension of each URL
and the minisign file: of each signature, and exits 1 on any failure.
- Docs: release skill, qa-update-cycle section 3 (rpm procedure, keys,
reason and removal condition of the fallback), architecture, README,
CHANGELOG, STATE.

Seven crates in Cargo.lock accept windows-sys through a wide bound
(colored, dirs-sys, errno, rustix, rustls-platform-verifier, tempfile,
winapi-util), so cargo may point them at any windows-sys version already in
the graph. All seven point at 0.61.2, the state every Windows release has
shipped with since v0.14.0. Some updates re-resolve them (cargo update -p
hyper, -p h2, -p rustls-webpki -p tar did) down to 0.48/0.52/0.59 while
cargo only reports the packages it bumped: the Windows build then compiles
five windows-sys versions instead of three, and nothing says so.
A new blocking step, "Verify windows-sys pinning", reads the lockfile with
awk right after the suppression guard and fails if any edge of the seven
crates leaves 0.61.2 (a bare edge only passes when the lockfile holds a
single windows-sys, at 0.61.2), if a guarded crate has no block, or if the
set of windows-sys versions changes. awk's exit code is tested apart from
its output, every check is logged with a summary line, and a canary
(tempfile) must be read and checked by the loop.
The step text was extracted from the YAML and run as is, with the runner's
bash options, on copies of the lockfile: main's and the five release tags'
locks pass (9 checks, exit 0); the hyper-bumped lock, an added
windows-sys 0.53.0, a renamed guarded crate, a missing lockfile and a
guarded list without the canary all exit 1.
ADR 0023 records why 0.61.2, the measured cost (3 versions compiled for
Windows instead of 5), the triggers, the exit condition (windows-sys 0.62,
or convergence on a single version) and the repair when the step fails.
CLAUDE.md and docs/architecture.md cite the guard next to the suppression
check. Cargo.lock and .cargo/audit.toml are untouched.

The /actions/tasks endpoint ignores `limit` and returns the whole list,
newest first, so `?limit=5` promised five rows it does not give. The
skill now selects the release.yml run of the tag directly (python3, as
verify-release.sh does), checked on v0.17.1: run 508, `v20.20.2`.
Also clarify check-frontend.yml's concurrency comment: same setup as
check-rust.yml, not the same group.

Node 20 reached end of life on 2026-04-30. check-frontend.yml, audit.yml
and release.yml now install Node.js 24 through NodeSource's setup_24.x,
as check-rust.yml has done since #375. Each step still prints
`node --version` in the job log.
The concurrency comment of check-rust.yml claimed the key cancels
obsolete runs on force-push. la-compagnie-maximus docs/forgejo-ops.md
measured the opposite on Forgejo 8.0.3: no pull_request run was
cancelled by a later one, and push runs are cancelled without the key.
The comment now states that measurement; the keys stay (harmless,
meaningful where honoured), and check-frontend.yml and audit.yml point
to it.
release.yml names the trust it places in NodeSource: the script runs as
root in the job container, whose Node.js then runs `npx tauri build`
with TAURI_SIGNING_PRIVATE_KEY. Kept on purpose, also documented in
docs/architecture.md, whose release.yml section described two jobs
(windows-latest, ubuntu-22.04) where there is one containerised job
cross-compiling Windows with cargo-xwin.
release.yml only runs on a tag, so Node 24 there is proven at the next
release: the /release skill now reads `node --version` from the release
run's log (step 9), and STATE.md lists it under the checks due at the
next release.

Applies the three suggestions of the review of #375:
- The runner's cleanup keeps one entry per key, whatever its scope: a PR
run that saves under the shared entry's key evicts it for every PR until
the next Monday, and two PRs on the same non-main lockfile evict each
other. Added to the list of cold runs.
- The cache key also hashes the job's CARGO*/RUST*/CC*/CFLAGS*/CXX*/CMAKE*
variables, and ignores the app's own version: changing env: means a cold
run until Monday, a release does not.
- A Monday restore that fails with a 404 after a quiet week is a known
runner race (forgejo/runner#1741), not #234 coming back.
Refs #234
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The runner's cache server is reachable again since the VPS fix of
2026-10-03 (cache proxy pinned to port 28100, ufw rule scoped to the
Docker job networks; diagnosed in #374). Bring caching back to check-rust
through Swatinem/rust-cache, as #232 deferred.
forgejo-runner v12.7.0 keeps what a pull_request run saves private to
that PR, so PR runs alone would only warm later pushes to the same PR. A
weekly scheduled run on main (Mondays 06:30 UTC) and workflow_dispatch
write the shared entries that every PR falls back to.
rust-cache v2.9+ declares node24 and the runner starts JavaScript actions
with the container's node, so the job now installs Node.js 24. zstd is
installed for faster, smaller cache archives.
No npm cache in check-frontend, by decision: with per-PR isolation it
would only serve later pushes of a PR, and npm ci takes 9s there. audit.yml
loses two comments this change makes false.
No CHANGELOG entry: CI configuration only.

The removal trigger #312 was written for had already fired — I filed the issue
without checking whether a newer plist existed. plist 1.10.0 ships quick-xml
0.41.0, which carries the fix, within tauri's existing bound:
cargo update -p plist -> plist 1.8.0 -> 1.10.0
quick-xml 0.38.4 -> 0.41.0
So RUSTSEC-2026-0194 and -0195 are resolved rather than accepted, and leave
.cargo/audit.toml the day they entered it. rsa is now the only entry, and the
guard loops on that crate alone; its rationale comment is re-pointed
accordingly, since it was written entirely around quick-xml/plist.
Also bumps the two yanked crates (#313). tauri-plugin-deep-link 2.4.8 -> 2.4.9:
upstream's 2.4.9 is a single commit, "Fix broken iOS custom URL schemes", so
the defect behind the yank is iOS-only and never reached this desktop app —
v0.14.0 shipping 2.4.8 was not a user-facing problem, which is why neither
Security nor Fixed applies to it in the changelog. spin 0.9.8 -> 0.9.9; every
0.9.x up to 0.9.8 is yanked, which reads as a bulk yank rather than a defect.
The #310 changelog bullet is amended rather than contradicted: it sits in the
same unreleased section and would otherwise ship two opposing claims in the
same release notes. Two of its statements were wrong. It said three advisories
remained (now one), and it said tar sits on "real code paths in the shipped
app" — tar is compiled, but its vulnerable extraction path is only reached by
the AppImage and macOS installers this project does not bundle. The
rustls-webpki half stands: TLS runs on every update check.
ADR 0018's decision is untouched; an amendment header marks the passages that
are now historical, including the "override is impossible" alternative, which
plist 1.10.0 made false the same day.
cargo audit from the repo root: 0 vulnerabilities, warnings 23 -> 21 (the two
yanked ones). From src-tauri/ it reports 1 — that is the cwd sensitivity of
.cargo/audit.toml, not a regression. Guard: 2 checks + canary, exit 0.
cargo check + cargo test green (106 tests). Lock diff: 4 packages, 666 before
and after.

The guard emitted nothing when it passed, so its success was indistinguishable
in the CI log from the step never running at all — the same silent-skip failure
mode it exists to catch, one level up. Confirmed on run 332: the job was green
and the log carried no trace of the step either way.
Each crate/target check and the canary now echo their result, followed by a
count and the exit code, so a reader can see the guard ran and what it proved.
Verified by extracting the run: block from the workflow and executing it
verbatim under bash -e: 4 checks, canary found, exit 0.
cargo update -p rustls-webpki -p tar moves rustls-webpki 0.103.9 -> 0.103.13
and tar 0.4.44 -> 0.4.46, both within the existing Cargo.toml bounds. They sit
under tauri-plugin-updater, which downloads and unpacks application updates, so
all six of their advisories were reachable in the shipped binary.
The remaining three can neither be fixed nor reached. quick-xml (2x 7.5 high)
is pulled by plist, which tauri only needs for Apple bundling: its per-target
trees are empty for both shipped targets and it appears solely under
x86_64-apple-darwin. Its fix is >= 0.41.0 while plist requires ^0.38, a
semver-incompatible boundary [patch.crates-io] cannot cross. rsa has no
published fix at all and is never compiled — its only parent is sqlx-mysql, an
artifact of sqlx's multi-backend graph on a SQLite project.
Leaving those three to red the daily gate forever would reproduce the signal
loss that #232 removed the `|| true` to fix, so they move into a versioned
.cargo/audit.toml. Entries are keyed by advisory ID, never by crate, so a new
advisory against the same crate still reds the gate; each carries its
reachability proof and its removal condition.
A blocking step in check-rust.yml re-proves that justification on every PR
touching src-tauri/ or .cargo/, and fails if a suppressed crate enters a
shipped target's graph — the scenario that would rot the list is itself a
src-tauri change. It separates cargo tree's exit status from its output (an
absent crate and a failed invocation both print nothing) and asserts a canary
crate is still found, so its silence proves something.
cargo audit: 9 vulnerabilities -> 0, warnings unchanged at 23
(cargo-audit 0.22.2, advisory-db 0bfde9d6 of 2026-07-27).
cargo check + cargo test green (106 tests); npm build + 871 vitest green.

Follow-up on the review of #232:
- .claude/ is tracked (rules + skills) and cannot affect the frontend build,
so a change confined to it no longer queues a 1m43s job for nothing.
- The release skill's pre-flight step named check.yml, which this PR deletes.
The reasoning still holds — the check workflows only run on PRs, never on
main, so a merged tip has never been seen by CI — only the filename moved.
Its dated changelog entry is left alone.
Resolves#232
The rust job cost 21m44s on every PR while only ~1 PR in 40 touches
src-tauri/, and the runner has capacity 1 — the frontend job queues behind
it, so every PR paid ~24.5 min of feedback.
Measured on run 326 (2026-07-21), 12m15s of that was pure waste:
- 6m54s tarring target/ and the cargo registry for saves that time out
against the runner's unreachable cache server (#234). The restore times
out into a miss too, so nothing was ever cached at either end.
- 4m41s recompiling cargo-audit from source on every run.
- ~40s on the two doomed restores.
Split check.yml into check-rust.yml (paths: src-tauri/**) and
check-frontend.yml (paths-ignore denylist), drop every actions/cache step
until #234 is fixed, and install cargo-audit as a prebuilt binary via
taiki-e/install-action. The audit step keeps continue-on-error — advisories
are informational and can land on unrelated crates — but loses the `|| true`
that also hid tooling failures; the install step is blocking.
The frontend filter is a denylist on purpose: that job costs ~2.5 min, so
running it needlessly is cheap while silently not running it is not. The
expensive job keeps a strict allowlist.
Neither workflow filters on `branches:` anymore. `branches: [main]` never
matched a PR stacked on another feature branch, which is what /autopilot
produces: PRs #305-#308 of the feature-gating milestone ran no CI at all.
Adds audit.yml for daily RustSec coverage, since check-rust.yml now only
runs on Rust PRs. It skips the Rust toolchain entirely — cargo-audit only
reads Cargo.lock — so it costs ~1-2 min rather than the ~22 a scheduled
check-rust would burn daily on a capacity-1 runner.
The GitHub mirror is left untouched (#233: it receives no PRs).
Expected: Rust PR ~9-10 min, frontend-only PR ~2.5 min instead of ~24.5.
Resolves#232
The `push` + `pull_request` combo doubled CI runs on every PR (visible
on #170 with 4 pending checks instead of 2). Drop `push`, keep
`pull_request: branches: [main]`.
Trade-off: branches pushed without an open PR no longer get CI
feedback. Open a draft PR if you want CI to run before requesting
review — `/fix-issue` always opens a PR right after pushing, so the
gap is essentially zero in practice.
Also adds a concurrency group `ci-${{ github.ref }}` with
cancel-in-progress so force-pushes cancel the previous run instead
of stacking.
Same change applied to .github/workflows/check.yml (GitHub mirror)
to keep the two configs in sync.
Fixes#171
The new token_store module (#78) depends on `sync-secret-service` via
`dbus-secret-service`, which in turn links to libdbus-1 at build time
through the `dbus` crate. Add `libdbus-1-dev` to:
- `check.yml` rust job (alongside the existing webkit/appindicator
system deps), so every PR run compiles the keyring backend.
- `release.yml` Linux deps step, so tagged builds link correctly.
Runtime requires `libdbus-1-3`, which is present on every desktop
Linux distro by default, so `.deb` / `.rpm` depends stay unchanged.
Also add a non-blocking `cargo audit` step to check.yml to surface
advisories across the transitive dep graph (zbus, dbus-secret-service,
etc.) without failing unrelated PRs.
Drop `appimage` from `bundle.targets` in tauri.conf.json: the release
workflow explicitly builds `--bundles deb, rpm` so AppImage was never
shipped, and its presence in the config risks a silent fallback to
plaintext token storage for anyone running `tauri build` locally
without libsecret/libdbus bundled into the AppImage. No behaviour
change for CI; follow-up to re-enable AppImage properly would need a
linuxdeploy workflow that bundles the backend.

actions/checkout@v4 and actions/cache@v4 are JavaScript actions and
require `node` in the container PATH. The rust job in check.yml only
installed system libs and the Rust toolchain, so the post-checkout
cleanup failed with `exec: "node": executable file not found in $PATH`
on every Forgejo run.
The frontend job already installed Node, which is why it succeeded.
The GitHub mirror is unaffected because ubuntu-latest ships with Node
preinstalled.

Adds .forgejo/workflows/check.yml (and a GitHub mirror) that runs on
every branch push (except main) and on every PR targeting main.
Two parallel jobs:
- rust: cargo check + cargo test, with cargo registry/git/target caches
keyed on Cargo.lock. Installs the minimal Rust toolchain and the
webkit2gtk system deps that the tauri build script needs.
- frontend: npm ci + npm run build (tsc + vite) + npm test (vitest),
with the npm cache keyed on package-lock.json.
The Forgejo workflow uses the ubuntu:22.04 container pattern from
release.yml. The GitHub mirror uses native runners (ubuntu-latest)
since the GitHub mirror exists for portability and uses GitHub-native
actions.
