The getting-started path now follows the user: AppShell mounts
OnboardingBanner at the top of <main>, in the page flow, and the
provider's mode keeps it off a hidden path, the dashboard of a profile
without transactions, a page that carries a step card and the first
load. The banner shows "Getting started n/N" once the Budget
entitlement is known, the next step linked with its navigation state,
"Show the list", which unfolds the detailed list in place, and "Hide";
at the end, the closing message, "Open the guide" and "Close". Each
route mounts its own banner slot, so a page always starts folded.
The dashboard's compact bar and the compact mode of
OnboardingChecklist are gone (D7). The detailed list reads each state
out to screen readers, shows a skipped step with its badge and
"Resume", and gives every link to a step the same navigation state
(stepNavState), with the guided entry for the manual category.

The checklist state moves from DashboardPage to OnboardingProvider, mounted
in AppShell around the routed page; pages read it through useOnboarding().
The reducer stays in useOnboardingChecklist:
- loads are numbered and a stale answer is ignored;
- HIDE, SHOW, SKIP and RESUME win over the snapshot of a load started
before them (#384);
- a refresh keeps the counters and the ready status, and a failed re-read
after a first success keeps the last state; only the start of a failure
streak is logged;
- re-read at mount, on every route change and 150 ms after a burst of
data events.
onboardingService: getOnboardingSnapshot replaces getOnboardingCounters and
is a pure read (skipped steps included, one preference per step, filtered on
the six keys and the value "1"); initializeGuidedPath applies rule D9 once
per profile in one transaction (hidden first, then the flag, ROLLBACK on
failure), awaited once by the first load through a promise shared by
StrictMode's double mount; skipStep / resumeStep are idempotent.
computeChecklist counts skipped rows; the new pure onboardingPath module
holds nextStep, CARD_PAGES (empty for now), stepsOfPage, the card latch,
bannerMode and readOnboardingNavState. The dashboard reads the context and
keeps its compact bar for now.

- Guide: drop the internal provenance (author, date, issue number) from the
BMO status line in the three copies (fr.json, en.json, guide-utilisateur.md).
The status now only says the procedure is reconstructed and unconfirmed.
- Dashboard: gate `showCompactChecklist` on `budgetReady` so a Base+ profile
with the five other items done no longer sees the compact list vanish (5/5
under the fail-closed entitlement) and reappear (5/6) once the licence
resolves.
- Test: pin TZ=America/Toronto around the `formatLocalDate` tests and assert
that `toISOString()` disagrees, so a UTC regression is caught on the UTC CI
runner too (measured: the mutation passed 7/7 under TZ=UTC before, fails now).
Follow-ups raised by the independent reviews of PRs #381, #378 and #382.

A profile without any transaction now opens a dashboard that says what to
do: a welcome card with the expanded getting-started checklist and one
primary action towards the import page, instead of widgets showing 0 $.
With transactions, the compact checklist sits between the title and the
filter panel until it is complete or dismissed.
- `EmptyState` (pure, dashed card from the import source list; a `to`
action renders a react-router `<Link>`, an `onClick` action a button)
- `OnboardingChecklist` (pure, expanded and compact modes; undone rows
link to their route, the locked Budget row shows a lock, the "Base and
up" label and links to the license card; neutral budget row and hidden
counter until the entitlement is known)
- `DashboardEmptyState` composes both
- `DashboardPage` branches on the hook `status`: loading renders the title,
help and banner only; error falls back to the v0.15.0 page without the
list and logs a warning; ready with zero transactions renders the empty
state outside the `isLoading` veil
- `useOnboardingChecklist` exposes `counters` and `error` for the page
- Users settings: "Show the getting-started checklist" button in the Guide
section, visible only when the preference is set, with an inline
confirmation after the click
- FR + EN keys `dashboard.empty.*`, `onboarding.checklist.*`,
`settings.users.onboarding.*`
Tests: `EmptyState.test.tsx` and `OnboardingChecklist.test.tsx` by direct
call (FilterPanel pattern). No DB migration. CHANGELOG left to #357.
Resolves#352
Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com>
DashboardPage now reuses the Cartes report's presentational widgets
(KpiCard with MoM/YoY deltas, top movers, budget adherence) sourced from
getCartesSnapshot against a Dashboard-owned reference month (defaults to
the last complete month). The expense-only pie chart is replaced by a
ranked bar chart of top expense categories (resurrecting the previously
unused CategoryBarChart), and the account (import-source) filter
introduced on Trends/Compare/Budget now also applies to the Dashboard's
own transactional widgets via a Dashboard-local accountIds state (kept
separate from useReportsPeriod, since the Dashboard owns its own two
temporal axes).
A new net-worth tile surfaces the Balance sheet's latest total
(getSnapshotTotalsByDate) — a distinct metric from every transactional
card here, so it stays hidden (never a misleading "$0") until at least
one balance account has a recorded snapshot, reusing deriveLandingState
rather than re-inferring emptiness from nulls. It is not scoped by the
account filter (balance_accounts is a disjoint concept from
import_sources) and is fetched independently on mount.
The category-over-time trend chart now passes typeFilter "expense",
fixing a latent mismatch where a revenue category could silently show
up in a chart titled "expenses over time".
Resolves#279
Adds a non-destructive, dismissable banner on the Dashboard that invites
profiles still on the legacy v2 category seed to discover the new v1 IPC
taxonomy. The banner links to the standard categories guide page
(/settings/categories/standard, shipped in #117).
Visibility rules:
- Only rendered when `categories_schema_version='v2'` in `user_preferences`.
- Hidden once the user dismisses it — dismissal is persisted in the same
`user_preferences` table under the key `categories_v1_banner_dismissed`
(value '1'), so the banner never reappears across app restarts.
- New v1-seeded profiles never see it.
No DB schema change: reuses the existing key/value `user_preferences`
table via the existing `getPreference`/`setPreference` helpers. No
migration added.
i18n keys under `dashboard.categoriesBanner.*` (FR + EN).
Changelog entry added under [Unreleased] in both CHANGELOG.md and
CHANGELOG.fr.md.
- Remove non-null assertions on bYear/bMonth in useDashboard fetchData
by making parameters required
- Extract shared computeDateRange and buildMonthOptions into
src/utils/dateRange.ts to eliminate duplication across useDashboard,
useReports, DashboardPage and ReportsPage
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com>
- Add budgetYear/budgetMonth state to useDashboard hook with last
completed month as default
- Add month dropdown selector in the dashboard BudgetVsActual title
- Reduce dropdown font size in both Reports and Dashboard pages
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com>
- Make reorderRows() recursive to support subtotals toggle at all depth
levels (not just depth 0-1)
- Restore pie chart legend (show on hover only to save space)
- Give more horizontal space to budget table (3/4 grid vs 2/3)
- Replace flat alphabetical sort with tree-order traversal so child
categories appear directly under their parent subtotal row
- Make category hierarchy recursive (supports arbitrary depth)
- Reduce pie chart width from 1/2 to 1/3 of the dashboard
- Show pie chart labels only on hover via tooltip
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Move the pie chart title to DashboardPage as an external h2,
matching the pattern used by BudgetVsActual and ExpensesOverTime sections.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com>
- Default period changed from month to year-to-date
- Remove recent transactions section
- Add expenses over time stacked bar chart (by category/month)
- Add budget vs actual table (current month)
- Reorganize layout: cards, pie + budget table, full-width chart
Closes#15
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Adds a "year" period (Jan 1 to today) between "6 months" and "12 months"
in the period selector across all reports and dashboard views.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Allow users to select an arbitrary date interval (e.g. Jan 1–15) in
addition to the existing preset periods. The "Custom" button opens a
dropdown with two date inputs and an Apply button. Works on both the
Reports and Dashboard pages.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com>
- Add SVG fill patterns to differentiate chart categories beyond color
- Add right-click context menu on charts to hide categories or view transactions
- Add transaction detail modal showing all transactions for a category
- Change import preview from wizard step to popup modal
- Add direct "Check Duplicates" button skipping preview step
- Bump version to 0.2.3
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Each page now shows a ? icon next to its title that toggles a collapsible
help card with page-specific tips. Supports EN/FR via i18n, closes on
outside click or X button.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com>
- Change all currency formatters from EUR/fr-FR to CAD/en-CA
- Add onProgress callback to insertBatch for real-time progress bar updates
- Replace binary skip/include duplicates with per-row checkboxes and type badges (DB/batch)
- Clean up orphaned import_sources when deleting imports with no remaining files
- Filter dashboard recent transactions to show expenses only
